Hoptography is a project that I started to supplement work that I have been doing for the brewing industry in general. It is a social media outlet and online blog, that focuses more on the beers themselves, and events and culture of craft beer. Like taking pictures of your food, there are tons of photos of beers online. I created Hoptography in part, because I was tired of the awful cell phone photos that the majority of people were posting.
Now, I do not tout myself as being a professional photographer by any means. I am a photographer as much as someone who is very good at only using photoshop is a graphic designer. However, my experience in art, composition, and post editing certainly has helped me capture some pretty decent shots. Though I will not say I am a photographer, being able to at least take some decent photos, is something that I find very useful in my field.
Apart from running the Hoptography brand on social media outlets. I also created a blog for it as well. I initially created the blog in word press, and while wordpress certainly makes organizing past content very simple, I wasn't as happy with the theme customization as I wanted to be. So I started from scratch, creating the site with HTML and CSS, added some jQuery for the sticky nav, and used Disqus to still retain the ability for comments.
